One of the things I liked about Choke Hold is that Chiun almost dies. Quite often, we see Remo and Chiun as invinicible warriors who aren't fazed by twenty guys with machine guns. This one our boys face an actual threat. It made this one far more intense than usual.

Personally, I like them pretty much invincible. Something like this on occasion is okay but I would hate to see one of them almost die every book.

Well, when they are portrayed as completely invinicible, there really is no suspense. One of the things I've always liked about the Bond books is that Bond always payed with flesh and blood to stop the bad guys.

If Bond were a Sinanju master, he wouldn't have those problems. The banter and insults between Chuin and Remo and Chuin's various racist remarks are what I like. It's the characters that are the driving force for me. We know they are going to get there. It's how and the interaction between the 2 that make the books fun. I like the larger than life heroes. Heroes that pay with flesh and blood are a dime a dozen. Remo and Chuin are 2 of a kind.
