If someone there reads it, I'll bet they'd let Jim write the script.

I sure wouldn't bet on that, Donna.

I didn't copy any of Jim's post over there, but I did make a new topic, which has a link back to this page.

It wouldn't hurt to reply to it, and maybe mention they ought to at least give Jim's outline another look.  I'm sure Jim would be happy to send someone another copy, once he knows the best person to send it to.  If someone there reads it, I'll bet they'd let Jim write the script.

Jim, if you haven't already posted that reply on the IMDB thread, may we copy and paste that there for ya?

Shane Black....... said he'd always wanted the job, but nobody asked him

If the movie gets made I don't know who will wind up writing it, but it's a pretty strange move to not even contact Shane Black.  He's a Destroyer fan, a big deal Hollywood writer and now a director.  Maybe he made the tragic, career-limiting mistake of not being under forty any longer.  Hollywood likes everybody but Teamsters to be ten years old, which seems to be the audience every movie is targeted at these days.

Hey Jim maybe you could talk S. Black who seems close to Joel Silver and Richard Donner! Don't forget Stan Lee. You ever talked to him? If Roven and co. add these guys to the list plus their associates there's gonna be 10 producers

The only bigshot I know is Warren Murphy and he's harder to find than Waldo on a beach.

Quote
BTW, what about Jim and Warren? What do they really want the first Destroyer movie should be all about? Based on what book for instance.(Hey Jim and Warren, maybe you guys could give us a little plot summary or spoiler? Pretty please?)

It's funny someone brings this up right now.  Last week I was sorting through piles of junk and I came across my Destroyer movie outline.  I wrote it a year or two ago but hadn't looked at it since.  I started reading it a little, then I read a little more, then I just gave up doing whatever else I was going to do and I sat down and read the whole thing.  It's twenty-four pages long, it's a really good read, the story moves along at a great pace, it's funny in all the right places and action-packed in all the others, and if there's ever a time the books get picked up again I suppose I'll adapt it as a regular Destroyer series novel.  Why?  Because a condensed version of it was passed along to the movie folks who never said so much as boo to me.  No phone calls, no emails, no nothing.  I assume it was tossed directly into the trash without being read, which is a real shame because it would have made us all a lot of money.  Instead, I'm broke and the movie is stuck in development hell.

I won't give out any plot details, but I will say that it's a totally new adventure.  I think that's best for Remo on the screen.

--It's not an origin story because I mostly hate origin stories.

--When the script starts, Remo is already Remo.  Think of our first intro to Indiana Jones in South America in Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Indy was already Indy.

--Smith is involved in the action and gets out from behind his desk.  Many folks make the mistake of seeing Smith as just some guy who gives Remo his marching orders then fades into irrelevancy.  Not so.  Smith is part of a triumvirate.  He's important to The Destroyer so he's important to my screen story.

--It's got two all new villains.

--It's a globe trotting adventure that takes place on four continents, and one of those is the one you'd least expect.

And that's all I'm going to tell you about the movie you're never going to see.*

Jim
p.s. *Although the movie guys are welcome to call me for the job at any time.  I actually got into this business originally to write for movies and TV.  I'm still not sure how I ended up becoming a novelist.

I saw a post by Shane Black that was 7 or 8 months ago in Beyondhollywood.com(there are many other sites beside IMDB where a lot of posts saying they're also excited and wondering when's the Destroyer gonna start filming. In aintitcool.com alone there are more than 100+ posts about the new Destroyer movie)and it said he'd always wanted the job, but nobody asked him! If they hired Shane Black a year ago he could have created 10 scripts for 10 Destroyer movies right about now!(Hey Jim maybe you could talk S. Black who seems close to Joel Silver and Richard Donner! Don't forget Stan Lee. You ever talked to him? If Roven and co. add these guys to the list plus their associates there's gonna be 10 producers which seems to be the norm in Hollywood these days.)

I think the bros. are confused on where to start coz there's so many books.(it ain't Harry Potter books that's for sure) It seems to make sense to start with #1 but that's not it! What're they waiting for? End of the world? They should call Jim and Warren now demmit! BTW, what about Jim and Warren? What do they really want the first Destroyer movie should be all about? Based on what book for instance.(Hey Jim and Warren, maybe you guys could give us a little plot summary or spoiler? Pretty please?)

One thing about Remo and Chiun they don't show off unless its necessary. Like Chiun demonstrating to Ludmilla in Enemy Hands(feathers) and in front of Rad Rex in Brain Drain.(pool cue) I think it was in King's Curse where Remo showed how he carved his name into the rock using just his hands.(but not everyone can be a Master just hearing the explanation) Then there's Sinanju's water tricks:they could walk, run and this time they could also stand and jump on the water's surface.(little or no rippling at all and no excessive splashing) Underneath the waters they could swim so fast they could outrace a speedboat of any kind without even stroking and also could dive hundreds of feet below without breathing for an hour or so.(not affected by pressure as well) All of this still goes back to Jim and Warren. If they're in charge of the script, everything will be alright. Remo's sense of humor for example is the least of our worries. He can be very funny without being sarcastic or cynical or gross all the time(maybe except to Chiun)unlike some people we know. Those who have first names starting with dead or death something(deadbeats) who are always cussing and swearing all the time. Their mouths are more dirty and stinkier than any sewers. The earlobe torture, Chiun's always complaining about Remo's elbow, noisy breathing, not answering the phone, etc. This is almost too easy.

Those Hollywood big boys should've been checking the Destroyerclub or Jim's site in the first place, not IMDB or Youtube or anything else. They should know it by now we're all freaking out here with all this hold up but no, they don't seem to care about anything! Instead Roven's kissing the Dark Knight's you know what again and Chasman's going out with Jason Statham yet again and they're scheduled for 3 more movies!(Safe 2011, Blitz, Killer Elite) Those 2 are so inseparable they shld. tie the knot ASAP since its almost legal now in California! Those Bindle and Marmelstein incarnate!(Roven and Chasman I mean)What were they thinking making those stupid announcements a year ago? There's still no script, no actors, no casting calls, no auditions, no readings, no directors, etc. No comments or even lies like Ï've been a fan of the Destroyer". Is this they're idea of a joke?(very funny) I don't give a hippo's stinking butt if they're reading this right now.(If they could read at all)I ain't apologizing to them until they start filming the Destroyer till they finish it and seen on all theaters everywhere in the world!(those dvd pirates might get it first)

Just how would you carry out that sentence?  You couldn't even cook a chicken on some crappy solar powered electric chair and I'm sure the gas chamber would be worse than Alar for any unlucky apples that happen to be downwind.

Jim

I have the perfect plan. You lock up the motherearthspoilers in a locked room with a tv showing Brad Pitt movies 24/7 and a razor blade

On the other hand, I've always been in favor of extending the death penalty.  Let's add to the list of capital offenses the crime of being an aging, untalented, pretty boy, dimwit actor.

It seems the Hollywood left is misunderstood.  It's not that they're against the death penalty per se.  As long as it's applied to the right sort of criminal. Not murderers.  Not mother stabbers, father rapers.  They're just misunderstood victims of our repressed society.  But those who would despoil Mother Earth?  They are evil.

Quote
Brad Pitt has waded into the Gulf oil spill controversy with an extraordinary veiled attack on BP.

The Hollywood actor said he would consider the death penalty for those to blame for the ruptured well that gushed millions of gallons of oil into the ocean.

Asked about the people responsible for the crisis, the ‘Inglourious Basterds’ star said: ‘I was never for the death penalty before – I am willing to look at it again.’
